The conditions above made it difficult for us to hunt muskies today.

Zack and I had been shooting the crap about going Muskie fishing for a while.  Soon, the hype got built up so much; we decided that we would go as soon as possible.  When I called him this morning, I was a little nervous as the winds were ripping up to 40 mph.  I do not have a motor that is below 10 hp, so we would have to rough it with my 2 trolling motors.  Zack figured it was perfect Muskie weather, so I picked him up and we made the trip.

As soon as we arrived, I knew I should have trusted my gut as a man in a truck pulled up and was really worried about our safety without a gas powered motor.  We appreciated the looking out, but decided that if we drove that far, we were going to try and catch a fish.

We worked the area around the NMZ.  I cast bucktails, a perch swimbait, and a believer.  Plenty of fish were marked off the west shoreline of the NMZ.  They were all 8 ft down in 12 ft of water.  There were five other boats in the area working suckers and other large baits.  Nothing was caught or seen in the time there.  Rumors from the internet indicated that 3 days prior was a hot time for muskies in the shallow water.  I would have loved to give it more time, but the wind was too brutal and my trolling motor batteries were dying fast.  Soon after, we got the boat out of the water.  We did try the shoreline for a short time, but it was all for nothing.
