Midwest Multispecies Angling
Pond Hoppin
While I haven’t been posting on a regular basis, I still have been able to get out to do a little bit of fishing here and there. The past few weeks have been focused on hitting smaller bodies of water around Dupage County. Almost all of these waters were being hit for the very first time. It was a good challenge to pull bass out of some fresh bodies of water. Here are some of the locations I have been fishing: Hidden Lake, Lake Foxcroft, Lombard Park District Ponds, Addison Park District Ponds, Westmont Ponds, and Willowbrook Park District Ponds. To make this short and somewhat sweet, here are some of the results:
This fish was caught in Lombard on a red, 4-inch Senko. It was only about a foot of water in front of a flowing drain.

This fish was caught in Glen Ellyn in about 2 feet of water on an F5 gold Rapala.
These two fish were caught in Glen Ellyn (a differnt day) on a wacky rigged, 4-inch smoke w/black fleck Senko. Both were fairly shallow, and preceded a storm front pushing through.
The storm front:
This fish was caught in Addison on a small, purple and white, Bomber crank bait. I am unsure of the depth, as it gave me a great jolt pretty far from shore.
I did manage to get one fish on a purple buzzbait from a Willowbrook pond, but I did not get a picture of it.
While I was at Hidden Lake, I had multiple hits on a white Spro popper, but was unable to bring in any fish. One of the fish would have been the largest fish of the summer by far…but so it goes.
Year to Date:
35Trips
15 Keeper Perch (Largest 11 inches)
45 Largemouth Bass (Largest 15 inches)
3 Coho Salmon (Largest 18 inches)
29 Crappies (Largest 10 inches)
3 Bluegill Family Fish (Largest 8 inches)

It was an excursion meant to be a family weekend, but a little fishing was done. A nice bass was all I had to show for my trip to Chute Pond.

I have not posted in some time, due to the fact that I am moving shortly and do not have internet. It is also the end of the year, which meant finals and massive amounts of grading. I don’t want my few followers to think I am a dead beat blogger, who has just stopped [...]

Hit Mayslake and Hidden Lake, in Dupage County. Hopes were high, as the water has been warming up. I decided to pull out one of the oldest lures in my tackle, an original F5 Rapala floater, in gold color. I moved over to the Northeast side of the lake where the sun was beating [...]

This morning I woke up, and it struck me with irony. I had to proctor the ACT test at my school, and the weather finally looked like it was going to be present. Thus far this spring, it seems like I only have free time to fish when the weather is atrocious. I was [...]

My time on the water has been limited. This was the weekend, a long time ago, I was planning to get out in the boat for the first time. With the winter storm forecasted, I knew that fishing would be hopeless and a simple shore adventure. I knew the odds were against me. The weather [...]

I had another afternoon to get out in between spending time with Nathan and finishing my quarterly grades. I decided to go back to Mayslake, in Dupage County, to hit the bass up before the heavy pressure arrived. Conditions: The week had been clear from rain after the major storm we got last weekend. The [...]

This is the kind of fishing you do when you become a daddy! It is nice to still get out and do what you love though!

Looks like you have been getting your casts in, Matt. Some good looking Bass. Thanks for the pictures!
