Todd and I decided to hit the harbors, just one more time, before the kings all died off.  This was probably the 3rd or 4th time we decided that it would be the last attempt.  The paper had mentioned some kings and cohos were lingering.  We had seen the kings just a weekend ago.  We figured the odds were decreasing, but there was still a chance.

We hit downtown at about 6:00 pm.  The water was in the mid to upper 40′s.  The wind was whipping between 10 and 20 mph out of the west and northwest.  An unexpected snow began to fall which was a lot more than we expected to see.

We started off working the inside of the harbor near the pipe.  The fish seemed like they were there, but they were tough to see due to the snow.  The moldy ones were much easier see, but those were not the ones we were looking for.  The water coming in from the lakeside was really muddy and sent a stream of filth inward.

After working spawn for about an hour, Todd hooked up with a small male.

I also worked spawn, which the kings just seemed to stare it with no intention of hitting.  I tossed a gold reef runner that had few hook ups the week before, but it didn’t even get a glance from a fish tonight.  After a while of working the pipe, we decided to try the west wall.

The west wall was dead.  We saw one swirl in the darkness, but no cruising fish or signs that we would find them.  After about 1/2 hour, we decided to go back to the pipe.

We gave the pipe a little more time, but the fish were not interested, probably the whole dying thing affected them a little bit.  A few snaggers showed up near the area and snagged a few fresh Coho.  I wasn’t thrilled to see them, but they were nice and lifted our hopes of fresh fish being around.

Fish Totals:
Todd – 1 King
Matt – 0 Fish
