Short Report:

I recently obtained a 5 hp motor from a friend, which means I have an outboard to use at Shabbona.  My other outboard is 20 hp and over the restriction.  With hopes of fishing the “Walleye Open”, on Sunday, with my uncle, I decided to check out Shabbona a day early.  I have only fished this lake one other time, and hope to make it one of my main lakes this summer.  My brother got off work around 11:00 am.  We headed out to Dekalb shortly after.  The fisherman were already coming off the lake from stating that fishing was slow.  With my brother moving to Colorado soon, the fishing really didn’t matter anyways.  I threw cranks, jig-n-pigs, and even trolled a little.  The only fish that were marked were 20 ft down in 30 ft of water.  The water was still cold, with surface temps of only 50F.  After quite a few hours of fishing and no fish, we called it a day.
