Rost Lake – Dink Bass Galore!
Aug 31st
It was the final day of the Labor Day trip, so we kept with the theme of bass fishing on smaller lakes. We arrived at Rost Lake pretty early, as we knew there would be a lot of ski and boat traffic. We found some weeds in about 10 feet of water and immediately set up. I put out my Slurppie ring worm with a light jig. It did not take long, before the fish found the magic set-up. I quickly put one on the board with this small largemouth.
We worked a lot of similar areas, and the smaller bass remained active through the morning. The lake, outside of that one spot, was rather barren of structure. At about 10:00, we found out why. The boaters and jet skiers came out in full force and and churned the small lake like it was a bathtub. There was probably no way weeds could survive. I had caught about 10 small bass, and the lake was choppy. Terry and I decided to call it a day.
