White Clay Lake: 12 pike in less than 2 hours
Jul 5th
I was able to get out fishing today with my parents for the first time in long while. They were on a get-a-way in the Depere area, so I decided to head up to spend some time with them. On the Friday night, we went out to eat, spent some time at the hotel, visited Lambeau Field, and checked out the locks on the Fox River.
On Saturday night of the trip, we hit White Clay Lake for some pike. When we arrived there, the number of boats fishing was rather overwhelming. There were only a few spots open on the lake. We immediately motored over to the Western end. I gave my dad a light weight rod with a Mepps spinner with black and yellow blades. I also had a lightweight set-up with a silver bladed, bucktail Mepps #5.
In the few hours we were there, we both caught a lot of smaller pike. I caught 10, while my dad caught 2. He probably had the fish of the day on, but it got stuck in the weeds. It was a lot of fun to get fish on each drift. It was a productive and fun couple hours on the lake.
Fish Totals:
Matt – 10 pike
Bruce – 2 pike
