Green Bay Tributary Common Carp River

A big spawning carp made my evening of fishing complete.

Paul and I wanted to do some evening fishing after such a great morning on White Clay.  We did not want to launch the boat, so we decided to go for some carp.  Paul brought a bow for bowfishing, while I stuck with my worm and treble hook.

When we arrived at our spot, it was easy to see the carp in the shallows.  We knew we had to be stealthy and approach them under the radar.  I had the first fish on, which turned out to be a monster.  I battled with it for about 15 good minutes.  We did not have a net, so I really struggled to bring it on shore.  It eventually popped the hook trying to bring it out of the water.

Just before the sun went down, my line immediately began to peel.  I shouted to Paul to grab the camera because I had another good fish on.  It didn’t take long before I could see that this fish was snagged in the tail.  This seems to happen all the time with carp in shallow water.  I guess the line was unavoidable.  I still was happy to bring the fish in and put together the little video below.  The sun was quickly setting after we let this fish go, so we decided to head in early for a good start the next morning.
